Saturday Flea Market Fun

I live down the road from a small retirement town in Arizona.  Within this town are several communities, each with a distinct personality.  These communities are all charming and the people who live there are close knit and kind.  I wrote a little profile about them recently for the local newspaper and described them as people who know how to "hold hands and stick together"...and that they do.

They also have very nice vintage.

One of the communities holds a flea market once a month in the parking lot of their clubhouse.  Any resident of the town can purchase a "parking spot" for a few dollars and bring their wares and sell them.  Some weeks there are 20 spots filled, some weeks more like 40.

The flea market is put on by a club of gentlemen who love to fish.  They collect "leftovers" from the people in the area and sell the items at this flea market to donate the proceeds to charity. They are a fun and cheerful group and they are usually my first stop when I go there.  They drink coffee and eat doughnuts on the back of their trailer and call out prices when you pick something up that you show some interest in. One time I picked up a mirror to examine it.  The nice "fisher" who was watching me couldn't understand why I wanted a piece of "junk"...so he just gave it me..lol.. I have it hanging in my shop here at home and I think of them and chuckle when I glance at it.

I always try to buy something from them but today the pickings were slim.  I did however find this old, worn, chippy, scratched up adorable little piece of metal.  One of the gentlemen laughed and said he didn't know what it was but..
"I think you can put a candle in that too"...lol....

These gorgeous bowls were picked up this morning, listed when I got home and sold within an hour.
I thought they were beautiful and someone else did too!
They were made by Syracuse China in the early 1970's.

Here are a few other things I was able to find today!  Looking forward to visiting the flea market again in a few weeks...! Maybe next time I'll sit and have a cup of coffee and a doughnut with the boys!
